Who we are

Village Babysitters WA is operated by Clifton Memorial Group Pty Ltd (ABN 50 690 843 353) trading as Village Babysitters. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Information we collect

For families we collect your name, email, phone number, suburb, children's first names and ages, booking history and payment method. For sitters we also collect Working with Children Check details, ID documents, national police check outcomes and first aid certifications.

How we use your information

We use your information to run bookings, verify sitters, process payments, send booking notifications, prevent fraud, improve the product and respond to support requests. We never sell your data.

Sensitive information and consent

Working with Children Check details, National Police Clearance outcomes and health or medical information about a child are sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We collect them only with your consent, only where they are reasonably necessary to verify a sitter or to run a booking safely, and we use them only for those purposes. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@villagebabysitters.com.au, though without these documents a sitter cannot hold the Village Verified badge and may not be able to accept bookings.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum information required with our payment processor, identity verification partner, email delivery provider and infrastructure provider. All partners are contractually bound to protect your information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia. Our payment processor Stripe operates in the United States and Ireland, our email delivery provider operates in the United States and the European Union, and parts of our hosting and database infrastructure are operated in the United States and Singapore. Before disclosing personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through contractual data protection terms. Sitter verification documents are stored in Australian and regional data centres.

Storage and security

Your information is stored in Australian and regional data centres with encryption in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to trained staff on a need to know basis.

Data breaches

We are covered by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act. If we suffer a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual, we will assess it promptly, contain it, and notify the affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as soon as practicable, as the scheme requires.

Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of your account. Email hello@villagebabysitters.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Village accounts are for adults. We record limited information about children only to help sitters prepare for a booking (first name, age, allergies, routines) and never use it for marketing.
