When to hire a newborn night nanny (and what to expect)
The first six weeks with a newborn are equal parts beautiful and brutal. A night nanny is not a luxury, it is sleep insurance, and here is how Perth families use one well.
What a night nanny actually does
They arrive around 9pm, take over feeds, settling and nappy changes, and hand baby back to you rested by 6am. You wake up having slept a full night for the first time in weeks.
When to book
Most Village families start between week two and week four, once feeding is established. Two nights a week is the sweet spot most parents report.
What to look for
Newborn Care or Night Nanny listed on the Village profile, at least two positive newborn reviews, and comfort with your feeding choice, whether that is breast, bottle or a mix.
The Perth reality
Good night nannies book out four to six weeks ahead. If you are due in autumn, start browsing in your second trimester.
A gentle note
Asking for help is not failing. It is the oldest form of parenting there is. That is literally why we called this a village.
