For sitters
How Village sitters actually get paid
If you are new to sitting on Village, this is the plain English version of how the money moves.
You set your hourly rate
Whatever you charge per hour is what you earn per hour. If you list at $30 an hour and work four hours, your payout is $120.
The 9.9% platform fee
Families pay a 9.9% booking fee on top of your rate. That covers payments, verification, support and the Village team. You do not pay it, they do.
When you get paid
Payouts land in your linked bank account after a booking is marked completed, usually within one to two business days via Stripe. You can see the full status timeline on every booking card.
Tax in WA
Sitter income is taxable. Keep a simple spreadsheet of bookings and dates, and set aside roughly 15 to 20 percent for tax. Village provides an annual earnings summary at EOFY.
Growing your income
Sitters with a completed profile, WWCC, first aid and two positive reviews earn on average three times more than partial profiles. Finish the onboarding and the bookings follow.
